The mission of West Cottonwood Jr. High, in partnership with parents and the Cottonwood community, is to provide each student with a quality education that includes the knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary to be a responsible, contributing member of our changing world.
The purpose of West Cottonwood Jr. High is to create a safe, integrated, and diverse learning environment for all students. This environment will foster self-discipline, creativity, and lifelong learning.
Cottonwood Union School District is located in Shasta County and encompasses 200 square miles along the Shasta-Tehama County Line. Cottonwood Union School District is comprised of three schools, North Cottonwood Elementary School (K-4), West Cottonwood Junior High School (5-8), and Cottonwood Community Day School (5-8). The schools have consistently earned the reputation for high academic standards, extremely safe, well-disciplined campuses, and a school environment that is conducive to learning and parent participation.
West Cottonwood Junior High School was built in 1957 and is currently comprised of 32 classrooms, a library, a computer lab, a staff lounge, a gym, a multipurpose room, a music room, swimming pool, and an all weather track.
West Cottonwood Junior High School provides a safe and clean environment for students, staff, and volunteers. The safety of students and staff is a primary concern of Cottonwood Union School District. The school is in compliance with all laws, rules, and regulations pertaining to hazardous materials and state earthquake standards.
