The students and I explore the key moments of the movie. Concentrating on the environment, trust, racism, perseverance, health, technology, and dedication.
ASL
We are learning the basics of American Sign Language, which includes the ABC's, family names (mom, dad, brother, sister, grandma, and grandpa, etc), numbers, colors, school signs, simple conversations, and learning how to sign a song. This quarter it is The Star Spangled Banner.
West Cottonwood Jr High FFA - Intro to Ag
Intro to Ag elective will explore the foundation for agriculture. Students will learn a variety of information about plant and animal science. This course will utilize the on campus farm for hands-on learning! This course will go into detail about plant taxonomy, anatomy and general caretaking. Students will also learn about animal breeds, uses and animal body systems.

Community Service
In this elective, students will design and carry out a meaningful project that benefits our school or local community. Over the course of the semester, they will research a need, develop a plan, and work together to achieve their goal. The class will conclude with students presenting their project and sharing what they learned through the experience.
Photo Walks
Students learn the ins and outs of i-phone photography; skills like: leading lines, the rule of thirds, how to take portraits and other cool features on their phones. They also participate in a photography contest at the end of the quarter. The students submit their best photos in different categories.
